Swaddling mimics the comforts of the womb. Since babies instinctively have the Moro reflex (i.e. when their arms fling up and scare themselves) up until around 4 - 6 months, this helps them sleep better with their arms wrapped in a snug little bundle. This may also help them sleep through the night better but in order for it to be safe and effective, you need to swaddle correctly.
• Do not swaddle too tightly around the chest or hips as this could cause dysplasia (i.e. abnormal hip development) but do it tight enough to create that snug feeling. Tip – make sure their little arms are straight because if they are bent, it makes it easier for them to break through!
• Do pick an organic swaddle made from a lightweight material, as thick fabrics and easily cause your baby to overheat, leading to problems such as dehydration or if serious, coma. Natural fabrics such as organic cotton and bamboo are great as they are not only lightweight but also breathable, allowing for greater airflow and keeping your baby cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They are also naturally hypoallergenic, helping to repel dust mites, mould and mildew. Our organic swaddles are made from a tried and true blend of organic cotton and bamboo, created for babies with eczema-prone and sensitive skin in mind.
• Choose one that is generous in sizing so that you can continue to use as your baby grows. A too small swaddle also makes it harder to wrap your baby in a tight snuggly bundle.
This will vary depending on your baby, but it will usually happen between 3-5 months. Typically when they start to tummy time and are able to roll from their back onto their stomach, then it's time to transition from swaddling to a sleep sack.
Since babies have delicate skin, you want to pick something that is comfortable, soft and hypoallergenic. Both bamboo and organic cotton fabrics meet these requirements. Bamboo is a renewable resource and grows naturally without the need for fertilizers or pesticides. Organic cotton also does not use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides that can be harmful to your baby’s health. Bamboo fabric is incredibly soft and often compared to cashmere. It is highly absorbent, naturally odor-resistant and very breathable which is great to prevent your baby from overheating. Organic cotton is durable, highly absorbent and also excellent for sensitive skins. Both fabrics are excellent for swaddling or as lightweight blankets/stroller covers with the main difference being the hand feel. Our favorite is our 70% bamboo and 30% organic cotton swaddles because it has the best of both worlds!
We made sure to make create a generously sized towel because you can always do with one less item that your baby has quickly grown out of! Our bamboo hooded towelsare made in an extra-large size so that it is suitable from birth up the 4 years of age.

There are plenty of baby teethers in the market but many contain plastics, BPA and other potentially harmful chemicals that we certainly would not want in your baby’s mouth. Natural wood is perfect because it is chemical-free and non-toxic. They are durable and long-lasting and are naturally anti-bacterial (yes, we think mother nature is pretty awesome too). This means as parents, you have one less thing to worry about!
Yes, each milestone blanket comes with ribbon markers so you are all set to go when the blanket arrives, but we still encourage you to have some fun and add on some additional props (e.g. your baby's favorite toy or wood teether) to make it extra special!
