    baby swaddled

Although most parents know the benefits of swaddling their baby, many parents have no idea how to swaddle newborns once they leave the hospital. Luckily, these two swaddling methods will help you become a swaddling pro in no time!

    The Burrito Swaddle

This swaddling method is one of the easiest to master:

Step 1 — Place your swaddle blanket on a flat surface.

Step 2 —Fold the top corner of the blanket down so that you have a diamond-like shape.

Step 3 —Place your baby on their back, arms down at their sides, on the swaddle blanket so that the top of their neck is just below the top of the diamond.

Step 4 —Pull the right corner of the blanket across your baby’s body and tuck the corner under the left side of the body.

Step 5 —Fold the bottom corner of the swaddle blanket up towards your baby’s head, then securely tuck it into the top right side.

Step 6 —Pull the left portion of the blanket over your baby’s body and tuck it underneath their right side.

    The Simple Swaddle

As your baby begins to move around more, you’ll want to use this simple swaddle method to keep their arms neatly tucked away. This prevents them from rolling over or waking from their startle reflex in their sleep.

Step 1 — Place your swaddle blanket on a flat.

Step 2 —Fold the top corner of the blanket down so that you have a diamond-like shape.

Step 3 —Position your baby on the swaddle blanket so the top of the fold sits just above their neckline. Then, put their left arm down by their side and pull the left side across their body. Tuck the corner underneath your baby.

Step 4 —Repeat Step 3 with the other side of your baby’s body.

Step 5 —To finish the swaddle, fold the swaddle blanket’s bottom corner upwards, then tuck that bottom corner into the top of the swaddle near your baby’s chin.

    Using The Right Swaddle Blanket

While either of these two swaddling methods will help your baby relax, you want to make sure you choose a swaddle blanket that is both soft and breathable so your baby feels secure and comfortable while they sleep.
