Growing Beans: Devon's Exciting Journey of Growth

Captivated by innocence, the sparkle in a baby's eyes illuminates the world with wonder. For this feature of Growing Beans, we have Devon who is almost 3 years old. Those little feet won't last forever, but that pair innocent pair of eyes of hers has never changed. 

Meet our little bean - Devon!

How old was your baby when she was cast for our photoshoot? How old is your baby now? 

What is the most memorable moment over the past few years? 

Devon met her maternal and paternal grandparents for the first time this September during a family trip to North America. There was so much joy during this vacation, with lots of fun and treats. From pony riding to meeting new family members, Devon had many new experiences for her first flight.

What is the most exciting milestone? How do you record these milestones?

Devon has learned so much from her older sister, but she's also naturally agile and a risk-taker! She loves going super fast on her scooter and isn't afraid to fly down hills (which is very scary for us!).

I record these milestones by writing in the Promptly Childhood History Journal, which I started as I was going through my pregnancy. You can record moments from your first trimester all the way up to your child's age of 18. I plan to give the journal to Devon on her 18th birthday so she can better understand me as her mother and my perspective of her childhood.

What is one thing that your baby has changed the most?

Devon was born at the beginning of COVID and didn't spend a lot of time with kids when she was younger, so we initially worried about her socialization. But she's grown more and more confident each day and now loves to play with her friends in the neighborhood and at school.

What is one thing that has never changed?

What is your favourite product from The Wee Bean and why?

I always give The Wee Bean's onesies to new parents (I love the Boba version) because I love the connection and nostalgia to Hong Kong culture. Many of the products remind me of my childhood summers spent here.

What is your best tip/advice on motherhood?

"Motherhood is like this never-ending crazy rollercoaster ride of ups and downs. It's amazing, hard, frustrating, lovely, and everything all at once, which can be hard to manage and balance."

That's why it's important to be kind to yourself. Learning to let go of control was really hard as a new mom, but once I eased up a bit and let go, it made life a lot easier.
