Our July Bean of the Month comes from Los Angeles, California! Baby Nicholas Chung Ngo (吳鍾山) was born on June 21, 2021 and just reached his one month milestone called 满月meaning "full month" in Chinese. From the looks of it, this Wee Bean will be filling out our onesies in no time! Thanks to Mama Jean for sharing so much information and read on to see more beautiful pictures of this lovely family!
TWB:Can you give us a brief intro about your family and where you are from?
@hijeanjean:
Based in Los Angeles, California. I (Mom) am Taiwanese born in Taipei and Dad is Vietnamese Chinese with Hainanese roots born in LA. We've been together almost 10 years, engaged since 2019. We had a wedding date for November 2020 but was postponed due to Covid. As a couple we enjoy traveling to Asia and visiting friends or doing business in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, China and Bali.
TWB: What The Wee Bean items did you buy/get gifted and how do you like our products?
@hijeanjean:
I (Mom) love staying in touch with my cultural roots and I hope to raise Bilingual kids. I'm proud to still speak Mandarin, read traditional Chinese, and I'm very much nostalgic for all things that remind me of my childhood or home town. The Wee Bean products were on full display for my Chinese themed baby shower, and I support Asian own businesses as much as I can. All The Wee Bean onesies and bibs are SO soft. My favorite designs are the White Rabbit Candy & Lemon Tea items.
TWB: What items do you recommend for first-time moms?
TWB: What's your favourite activity to do with your baby?
@hijeanjean:With a newborn right now it's just wonderful to be in his presence. Watching his alert eyes absorb everything in his scope of vision, smile when he lets out adult size farts haha, or grasp your fingers in his strong tiny hands.
TWB: Best baby-friendly places to go to in your city?
@hijeanjean: In the first 30 days, we've adopted the traditional Eastern way of the 1 month quarantine, but honestly with the pandemic and Covid-19 numbers still roller-coastering up and down in our county- we've gotten used to staying in the neighborhood. We do live in a convenient city in the suburbs of Los Angeles and we look forward to enjoying more time in the future at the local arboretum, shopping at the outdoor promenade, and hiking around the nearby mountains when the weather cools down.
TWB: What's one tip you have for all the new mommies/daddies out there?
@hijeanjean: Every individual experiences Motherhood differently, it's great to have a community of girlfriends to share products/advice but don't feel pressured to handle everyday the way someone else does. Trust your instincts, enjoy the experience, and cut yourself some slack when you get frustrated or impatient. There's an overload of information available now for new moms and yes we want to clear away outdated conditioning from the previous generation but we ourselves also turned out alright, go easy on yourself :)
Thanks again to Baby Nicholas and Mama Jean for sharing their amazing story and moments with us!
